Day of the Dead is a fascinating time of year to visit Mérida as the Mayan people create beautiful candle lite alters with food and flowers to guide the souls of their family members to the afterlife. Celebrate and join in with the walk from the gravesite though the streets of La Ermita only one block from Casa Nicolee.  I recommend arriving at least a week before the festivities begin to soak up the atmosphere and explore the Yucatan and stay a little into November to ensure you miss nothing.
